Can you have both .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.0 on 64-bit Windows 7 ?

Greetings.
I am trying to install ESRI's ArcGIS 10 on my 64-bit Windows 7 system.
ArcGIS requires .net Framework 3.5, but 64-bit Windows 7 seems to come with .Net Framework 4 installed.
The tech on the ESRI support forum said this:
"3.5 is provided on the ArcGIS media as a separate installation.
However, on Windows 7, .NET 3.5.1 (3.5.1 = 3.5 SP1) is only available as a Windows Feature - it just needs to be turned on.
Windows Features are accessible from the Uninstall or Change a Program
UI."

He followed it with this:

"Installing .NET 4.0 does not turn on the .NET 3.5.1 Windows Feature.
I just tested it on Windows 7 to confirm.
On my machine, .NET 3.5.1 is turned on by default.
So in many cases, .NET 3.5.1 may already be on the machine when .NET 4.0 is installed without
any additional configuration.
I turned off the .NET 3.5.1 feature and installed .NET 4.0 - the 4.0 install did not turn back on 3.5.1.
...
.NET 3.5 SP1 must be separately installed."

So I'm still not sure what to do.
Can I turn on 3.5 and run 3.5 and 4.0 together? Do I need to remove 4.0? Thanks.

Thus, we don't need to manually install them.

Each .net framework is a individual program, that developers use to create programs.
Programs created by a .net framework need the same .net framework installed, if not found the
program requesting this item will ask for the item to be installed..
You can download and install .net framework 4.0.
I have installed .net framework 4.0 client profile,
and .net framework 4.0 extended.
These will show in add and remove list.
Keep them all on, they are individual programs.

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer. If any updates are found, click Install updates.

Install the latest updates for Windows and for the program displaying the error. Note that the update for the program might be listed as an optional update on the Windows Update page.

Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.

I'm trying to use movie maker for W 7. When I hit play nothing happens. It shows my movie as being 0.03 seconds long. It is about 30 minutes. This is a session of my family performing multiple songs live. I want to take out parts in between and burn
a disc without all the wasted time between "scenes". Saved as a VOB file?

Open Internet Explorer.
Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab".
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".

Can't download Windows Media Centre/12 for Windows 7 Professional

I've been trying to download the Media Centre/Player for Windows 7 Professional N. I have Service Pack 1 so thought I'd be able to download this easy. I've tried a few times with the KB answers download that came up when I searched but I keep getting
a message that it isn't applicable for my computer (A Dell Dimension 5000 - new to me at end of last year).

I've also looked in Progams & Features in the Control Panel but I don't have an option for Media.

Can anyone help me please?

with this (nor does Firefox) so I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8.

Can I restore windows with a system image stored in a folder?

I have a Western Digital My WorldBook 1 TB external storage device that I am backing up my Win 7 Pro machine to.
The WD came pre-configured with three folders at the top level: Configuration Share, Download Share and Public Share.

When I created my W7 backup, I created a folder within the Public Share and included the system image.
Everything backed up without errors.

I've never had to restore from a system image before and I'm wondering if that will work with a folder or does it need to be a bootable disk or media?

PLEASE HELP , after extensive searching I am led to this site to try and sort out my problem

Until recently I have had no problems playing games that I have launched from steam.
Only recently have I started to notice that when I launch specific games in my games library the BSOD with the system_service_exception error code 0x0000003b appears, this
can be intermittent.

I have installed blue screen view and it seems to indicate that the driver atikmdag.sys and ntoskrnl.exe is causing the issue linked to the ati kernel mode driver and NT kernel and system which are their file names respectively, I have tried reinstalling the
new catalyst drivers but this doesnt seem to make any difference.
this is as far as I have gone

the minidump is uploded
the age of my system now is approximately 2 and half years - I have also considered updating my motherboard e.g flash bios and update chipset drivers but I do not know if this will make any difference.

Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated .
