How to Fix Problem - After installing SP2 my wireless internet does not function.?

After installing SP2 my wireless internet does not function.

Hi

Since installing SP2 on my Dell XPS 1530 i can no longer connect to or even 'see' wireless networks, according to device manager the wireless driver is the latest version, however device manager does not seem to recognise when i manually disable the wireless
adaptor via the hardware switch.  When i try to connect to a wireless network the list of available networks is blank, prior to installing SP2 i could see approximatly 6 different networks within my apartment complex.

When i click "diagnose why windows cannot find any additional networks" i am told that "The network adapter "Intel(R) Wireless WiFi link 4965AGN" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues"

According to "Wireless Network connection status" my computer is recieving packets wirelessley, when i switch the adapter off via the hardware switch this stops and then restarts when i turn it back on.  IPv4 and IPv6 Connectivity both show : Not Connected.

When i switch to command line and type ipconfig the wireless adapter is not listed, only bluetooth and ethernet properties are shown.

Can anyone suggest any potential solutions to this problem?  I have tried uninstalling SP2 which made no difference.  Unfortuantly there is not a restore point saved prior to installing SP2 the first time so this is not an option.

Thanks

Chris
