Audio not working after Windows 8.1 Upgrade Tech Support

Audio not working after Windows 8.1 Upgrade

Hi Everyone

SO I updated to Windows 8.1 from the store yesterday and now audio does not work on my laptop.
No sound from any programme at all.
the volume icon shows that its at full volume, the Realtek drivers are the latest.
I have even un-installed them and then
re-installed them.
Nothing, still no sound.
HDMI out sound does not work either but the headphone jack does work for some reason.

I have an Asus N55.
Any help would be warmly welcomed.

Thanks for looking.
