Attempted KB2779768 update, system restarts to state as if Windows 8 was first installed
After upgrading to Win 8 from Win 7 Pro x64 back in Dec 2012, I have been installing updates as they become available.
Attempting to keep the process chronological.
I was down to the last 6 updates (as of 21 Feb 2013).
KB2267602 installed well.
System restarted
normally.
When I then attempted KB2779768, it took a long time, and then rebooted, and rebooted again.
The system then came up as if I had just freshly installed Win 8. It asked for my activation key.
All my installed apps were gone. There was no option
to do a restore point back to a known good state, prior to this latest update attempt.
When updates have failed in the past, I was able to revert to a previous good state using "restore Point"
I do not know what to do to remove this update and return to a stable OS condition.
Eric
