Solution to Error: 80070002 error with installation of Vista Service Pack 2 for 64 bit os__

80070002 error with installation of Vista Service Pack 2 for 64 bit os__

I have been having trouble with Wundows Update.
My updates will download, but they will not successfully install.
Among these updates are SP2 and the readiness tool that fail, among other security updates and cumulative updates.
These are the error codes
I get:

80004005
-Cumulative update media center
-security update

80070050
-hotfix for windows (readiness tool)

80070002
-Service Pack 2

8000FFFF
-junk mail filter
-Update for vista

I have the 64 bit version of vista ith SP1, if that matters.
I have tried troubleshooting the service pack error, I had deleted the downloaded update content as per "windows help", and even tried manually installing it from the microsoft site.
Still no luck.
Also, the Update Readiness tool failed to install, and now I seem to be at the end of my expertise.
What should I do to get my updates to work?
