Is this the first time this issue has arisen or is it an ongoing problem? When regarding email errors of this type you may want to access your providers support website and view their settings for pop email accounts.
Some providers require your full email address in the Username box while others do not.
Secondly, other settings for mail servers are different for each provider as well.
If you are running an anti-virus you might also check to see if they are blocking traffic for any reason.
Some programs like this can block email traffic as well as internet traffic.

If your provider has a webmail site, you can also log in to your mail there and see if there might be a problem with that particular mesage in the list.

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer. If any updates are found, click Install updates.

Install the latest updates for Windows and for the program displaying the error. Note that the update for the program might be listed as an optional update on the Windows Update page.
