Adobe Acrobat 8.2x crashes

Since upgrading to Vista Ultimate, Adobe Acrobat 8.2x crashes each time I try to open it.
 I have gone to Adobe to install the latest update and still have the same issue.
 I have tried to turn off DEP for the program and received a message saying
that I could not turn it off for this program.
 Can anyone help me?

I would suggest you to check the event viewer and post back the information from it which will help us to identify the cause for the problem.

1. Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button, clickingControl Panel, clicking
System and Maintenance, clickingAdministrative Tools, and then double-clicking
Event Viewer.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Click on event log in the left pane.
3. Double-click an event to view the details of the event.

If not you may uninstall Adobe acrobat using windows cleanup utility and download it from the adobe website and reinstall.

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer. If any updates are found, click Install updates.

Install the latest updates for Windows and for the program displaying the error. Note that the update for the program might be listed as an optional update on the Windows Update page.

Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
