Tech Support: Acer Aspire One 531 with Windows 7 Mapping secure network folder on Lan Drive

Acer Aspire One 531 with Windows 7 Mapping secure network folder on Lan Drive

I have just purchased an Acer Aspire One 531 Netbook with Windows 7 Installed.
I am trying to Map two network folders on my home network one folder is public the other is private and password protected.
They are on an external harddrive with a samba based
Lan connection.

I can connect to the public one easy enough but the private one is not accepting the password.
When i connect through XP on my desktop theres no problem i get a username which is frozen which i cannot change storage\guest so just put in the password and in
we go.
Windows7 gives you an option for user name and i have tried putting in the same but none seem to be accepted it keeps coming up The specific password is not correct.
It is getting really frustrating and i am wishing i purchased one with XP

Hi AliReid,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

Which version of Windows 7 is installed on the Netbook?
What is the exact error message you get when you try entering the username and password?

One rule is that only one private map per computer.
Remove all maps public and private.
Reboot computer to ensure there are no traces of mapped drives.
Make new private directory, do not use an old private directory.
You should be able to map
the private directory now.
